Get to Know Lisa Benedict
Lisa Benedict is our Senior Accounting and Applications Consultant. There’s more to her than Dynamics GP and SQL tables! Here’s a brief chat with Lisa.
What do you do at Business Ready Solutions? 
I’m the Senior Accounting and Applications Consultant. I handle accounting matters for our clients and provide technical support for Dynamics GP.
What do you like about your job?
It’s interesting because I work with different clients in different industries and see how each client operates and is set up technically. I learn a lot because accounting is not always straightforward – there are differences in every industry and company. I like to see how each client runs their accounting and how we support them.
What’s most challenging?
What I like about my job are the same things that make it challenging! Business Ready Solutions has many clients who are set up in complex ways, not necessarily accounting wise, but technically, with lots of integration with other systems, for instance.
Why do you like working with Dynamics GP?
Microsoft Dynamics GP has a lot more flexibility than many people realize. With flexibility comes complexity. Dynamics GP allows users to see their information in many different ways, which is extremely helpful strategically and operationally. Dynamics GP is also much more comprehensive than QuickBooks or Peachtree.
If this weren’t your career what would you be doing?
At one point I was a biology major who considered going to medical school. When I got married I reconsidered this, but I still like biology and read a lot of books about biology. It’s just a hobby. I like what I do now and don’t look back!
Describe a good day on the job.
A good day on the job is being able to close a lot of support cases and help clients figure out what they want and get them to that point. I want to deliver a solution as quickly as possible.
Describe your professional background and experience.
I have over 15 years of consulting experience in accounting and management, and have worked with Microsoft Dynamics GP, QuickBooks, Peachtree, Solomon, Advantage, Maconomy and PeopleSoft. I’ve worked in many industries including healthcare, real estate, procurement, banking and communications. I often improve and implement workflow processes for efficiency and control, report writing, budgeting and forecasting, audit schedule preparation, SOX and software implementation.
In which Microsoft Dynamics competencies are you certified?
I’m certified in Microsoft Dynamics GP Financials, including Foundation System Manager, General Ledger, Payables Management, Fixed Assets, Receivables Management, and Bank Reconciliation.
Do you have any professional goals and aspirations for 2010?
I want to earn more Dynamics ceritifcations and go more in-depth with that, as well as learn more about SQL Server and support more clients in that area.
What do you do and enjoy outside of work during your free time?
In the summer I love gardening, and in colder weather my husband and I try to get away on the weekends and go to the mountains and to the movies. I volunteer in our church for special projects and help with their financials.
